What Is a Red Currant?
The red currant, or redcurrant, (Ribes rubrum) is a member of the gooseberry family and native to Europe.
What Do They Taste Like?
The berries are tart, with flavors similar to cranberry and rhubarb. They are flash frozen for us individually for optimum quality.
Where Can I Buy?
You can buy them from Fresh & Wild, shipped direct to your kitchen.
Many people ask if you can use them to make jelly . The answer is a resounding yes!
We’ve included a recipe for Homemade Red Currant Jam (also known as Jelly).
Many chefs also use our currants to make sauces for pork, lamb and fish. These also work well for Red Currant Yogurt Cake. You can see in our pictures we prepared this in muffin tins and they turned out beautifully.
